For the past twenty-five years that I've lived here our cars have been plagued by the sap raining down from a poplar tree on the edge of the driveway.  We have been looking for someone to cut it down.  A contractor that was replacing the door to our deck recommended a fellow named Art Martello who has a tree trimming service.  We contacted him and after getting an estimate hired him to cut down the tree and trim some branches out of the Maple tree that stands next to the house.  He was here Friday and did a pretty good job. We had agreed to cutting the tree trunk up ourselves so that we could give it to a neighbor for fire wood.  So, there's a pretty big log laying along side the driveway.

Newly dropped tree.

My Commander in Chief ( AKA Linda ) informed me that under no circumstances was that log going to lay there for years.  I was to get it cut up post-haste.  This morning I looked at the work I had top do, Looked at my old chain saw that I had bought in the Nineteen Seventies that's been setting for about 20 years and informed Linda that I might have to buy a new saw.  She said OK.  Now, understand this, I had just been given permission to make a major purchase. The old Poulan I was replacing was as close to a commercial / industrial machine as I could afford in the seventies.  I know the difference it makes to have at least a twenty inch bar and a lot of horsepower.  So, while I didn't go whole hog I went about half hog.

There it is.

Old Guy With a Toy

Well, what is one to do if one has overspent for a tool.  Brag about it that's what.  Make an advertisement for it. Do a crap load of work with it and tell everybody how good it is or ain't.  Yea it's a good saw.  It chewed through that soft poplar log like it wasn't there.  I managed to get the thing cut up without getting it stuck or pinched in a cut and while there is still more to do it won't take long.

Honestly, You're Too Old and Too Fat For This!
